Grilling Shanghai Bok Choy

I like Baby Shanghia Bok Choy in stir-fries because the Baby Shanghai Bok Choy is more tender than the typical Shanghai Bok Choy. However, I love Shanghai Bok Choy grilled. To me, grilling affords a cleaner way of eating. And the larger Shanghai Bok Choy simply offers more surface area for beautiful charring.

What You’ll Need:

Shanghai Bok Choy

Seasoning

Olive Oil

  1. For this recipe, I leave the seasoning up to you. Salt, pepper, and garlic always provide a great seasoning. But there’s so many fun readymade seasonings on the market. Two of my favorites that go well with Shanghai Bok Choy are Kinder’s Chile Verde Rub and Kinder’s Cuban Blend Rub.
  2. Vertically half the cleaned Shanghai Bok Choy. Liberally coat the bok choy with seasoning and olive oil. A good amount of the seasoning and oil will fall off as you’re grilling.
  3. Preheat the grill to medium-high heat. Place the bok choy on the grill. Close the grill top and cook until there starts to be some char, which typically takes around 3 minutes. Turn the bok choy. Close the grill top and cook until there starts to be some char, which typically takes around 3 minutes
